في بَلَدٍ بَعِيدٍ عَنِ الضَّوْضاءِ وَالصَّخَبِ، كَانَتْ هُنَاكَ قَرْيَةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ تُسَمَّى "الوَاحَةُ الخَضْرَاءُ". كَانَ أَهْلُ القَرْيَةِ يَعِيشُونَ فِي سَلامٍ وَوِئَامٍ، يَعْمَلُونَ جَمِيعًا فِي زِرَاعَةِ الأَرَاضِي وَتَرْبِيَةِ الحَيَوَانَاتِ. لَمْ يَكُنْ هُنَاكَ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ المُنَافَسَةِ أَوِ الحَسَدِ، بَلْ كَانُوا يَتَعَاوَنُونَ وَيَتَشَارَكُونَ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ.
فِي يَوْمٍ مِنَ الأَيَّامِ، جَاءَ إِلَى القَرْيَةِ رَجُلٌ غَرِيبٌ. كَانَ يَرْتَدِي ثِيَابًا بَسِيطَةً، وَلَكِنْ كَانَ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ بَرِيقٌ يُشِيرُ إِلَى أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ كَكُلِّ زَائِرٍ. اِسْتَقْبَلَهُ أَهْلُ القَرْيَةِ بِتَرْحِيبٍ وَحُسْنِ ضِيَافَةٍ، وَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ غَرَضِ زِيَارَتِهِ. قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: "أَنَا تَاجِرٌ أَبْحَثُ عَنْ الجَوَاهِرِ النَّفِيسَةِ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ أَنَّ فِي هَذِهِ القَرْيَةِ كَنْزًا مَخْفِيًّا."
تَعَجَّبَ أَهْلُ القَرْيَةِ وَقَالُوا: "لَا نَعْرِفُ عَنْ وُجُودِ كَنْزٍ هُنَا. قَرْيَتُنَا بَسِيطَةٌ وَلَا تَحْتَوِي عَلَى شَيْءٍ نَفِيسٍ." لَكِنَّ الرَّجُلَ أَصَرَّ أَنَّ هُنَاكَ كَنْزًا، وَطَلَبَ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُسَاعِدُوهُ فِي البَحْثِ عَنْهُ.
بَعْدَ عِدَّةِ أَيَّامٍ، وَبَعْدَ أَنْ بَحَثُوا فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فِي القَرْيَةِ، تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّ الكَنْزَ لَيْسَ ذَهَبًا أَوْ فِضَّةً، بَلْ كَانَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ وَطِيبَتِهِمْ وَتَعَاوُنِهِمْ مَعَ بَعْضِهِمْ البَعْضِ. فَفَهِمُوا أَنَّ الكَنْزَ الحَقِيقِيَّ لَا يُقَاسُ بِالمَالِ، بَلْ بِالمَحَبَّةِ وَالإِنسَانِيَّةِ.
Fī baladin baʿīdin ʿaniḍ-ḍawḍā'i waṣ-ṣakhibi, kānat hunāka qaryatun ṣaghīratun tusammā "al-wāḥatu'l-khaḍrā'u". Kāna ahlu'l-qaryati yaʿīshūna fī salāmin wa wi'ām, yaʿmalūna jamīʿan fī zirāʿati'l-arāḍī wa tarbiyyati'l-ḥayawānāt. Lam yakun hunāka kathīrun mina'l-munāfasati awi'l-ḥasadi, bal kānū yataʿāwanūna wa yatashārakūna fī kulli shay'in.
Fī yawmin mina'l-ayyām, jā'a ilā'l-qaryati rajulun gharīb. Kāna yartadī thiyāban basīṭa, walākin kāna fī ʿaynayhi barīqun yushīru ilā annahu lays ka kulli zā'ir. Istaqbalahu ahlu'l-qaryati bi-tarḥībin wa ḥusni ḍiyāfa, wa sa'alūhu ʿan gharadi ziyāratih. Qāla'r-rajul: "Anā tājirun abḥathu ʿani'l-jawāhiri'n-nafīsa, wa qad samiʿtu anna fī hādhihi'l-qaryati kanzan makhfiyyan."
Taʿajjaba ahlu'l-qaryati wa qālū: "Lā naʿrifu ʿan wujūdi kanzin hunā. Qaryatunā basīṭa wa lā taḥtawī ʿalā shay'in nafīs." Lākinna'r-rajula aṣarra anna hunāka kanzan, wa ṭalaba minhum an yusāʿidūhu fī'l-baḥthi ʿanh.
Baʿda ʿiddati ayyām, wa baʿda an baḥathū fī kulli makānin fī'l-qarya, tabayyana lahum anna'l-kanza lays dhahaban aw fiḍḍa, bal kāna fī qulūbihim wa ṭībatahim wa taʿāwunihim maʿa baʿḍihim al-baʿḍ. Fa-fahimū anna'l-kanza'l-ḥaqīqī lā yuqāsu bi'l-māl, bal bi'l-maḥabba wa'l-insāniyya.
In a distant land far from the noise and chaos, there was a small village called "The Green Oasis." The people of the village lived in peace and harmony, all working together in farming the land and raising animals. There was not much competition or envy; rather, they cooperated and shared everything.
